A volunteer medical mission overseen by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has conducted 75 cardiac operations during its initial four days in Nigeria.
The 10-member Saudi delegation, which comprises physicians, consultants, nurses, technicians and administrative personnel, operates in partnership with the Al-Balsam Association for Training and Health Development. Working alongside Nigerian healthcare professionals, the team is evaluating and treating patients across Nizamiye and Zenith hospitals in the capital, Abuja.
During the first four days of activity, the visiting team carried out 10 open-heart surgeries alongside 65 interventional catheterization procedures. Medical staff also completed 13 physical examinations and delivered specialised consultations and related healthcare support.
The broader medical campaign has set a total target of delivering 28 open-heart surgeries along with 80 diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations for patients in need.
Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, inspected the ongoing medical operations during a visit to Zenith Hospital.
The outreach effort is part of KSrelief's international medical volunteer initiatives, which aim to provide advanced clinical treatments to individuals unable to afford care in communities with restricted access to specialised healthcare services.
