Stacey Waaka scored three tries as the Kiwi Ferns dominated blustery conditions in Newcastle to book a spot in their seventh consecutive tournament final.

New Zealand secured a place in the Women's Rugby League World Cup final with a comprehensive 32-0 victory over Samoa on Saturday at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, New South Wales.

The Kiwi Ferns booked their seventh consecutive appearance in the tournament's title decider, having captured three championships between 2000 and 2008 before suffering three straight final defeats against Australia. A potential rematch looms unless debutants Fiji overcome the Australian Jillaroos in the other semi-final.

Dual-code international Stacey Waaka led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Mackenzie Wiki, Mele Hufanga, Kaiyah Atai and Raecene McGregor each crossed the line for a try. Goal-kicker Kiria-Ratu added two conversions in blustery conditions.

Wiki put New Zealand ahead inside the opening two minutes by punishing an early Samoan handling error. Waaka then extended the lead after collecting a kick from McGregor following hesitation by Samoa winger Mercedez Taulelei-Siala.

New Zealand's defence held firm throughout the first period, continuing a tournament trend after giving up just 24 points across their three group matches. Samoa struggled to turn field position into points, hampered by mistakes that included two forward-pass penalties called against Pauline Piliae-Rasabale on the right edge.

Despite the defeat, Samoa found highlights in the forward pack through lock Fanua Rimoni, while 18-year-old winger Anastasia Leatupue delivered a composed performance on her international debut.

New Zealand pulled away decisively in the second half. Waaka gathered another McGregor kick for her second score before Hufanga powered past three defenders to touch down. Atai crossed just over two minutes later to widen the gap.

Waaka finished with 131 metres gained, two line breaks, three tackle breaks and a try assist alongside her third score, while McGregor capped the performance with a try of her own to seal the win ahead of next Sunday's final.
