Lithuanian authorities advised residents across central and northern parts of the country to seek shelter on Sunday morning following the detection of an unrecognized flying object.
The directive was announced by the Lithuanian army and the national crisis management center as security measures were initiated.
NATO air policing fighter aircraft were dispatched to the sector, and Kaunas airport was shut down for roughly an hour after officials declared a "red" air warning.
Across the northern border, Latvia's military also declared a "yellow" air warning for several districts adjacent to Lithuania, citing a "possible threat."
