The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open will return for its fifth edition from Jan. 30 to Feb. 6, 2027, featuring elite international players competing for $1.2 million in prize money, organizers announced.
Staged at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City, the eight-day WTA 500 tournament will feature 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams battling for WTA ranking points. The event, presented by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, will operate under the campaign theme "5 Years Strong – Strong on court. Strong in community. Stronger than ever."
The competition has expanded its audience in recent years, attracting more than 60,000 spectators during its 2026 edition. Tournament director Nigel Gupta at MARI, the organizer, noted the rapid growth of the tournament and fan interest.
"Seeing over 60,000 in attendance in 2026 was remarkable and a real testament to the appetite for world-class tennis in Abu Dhabi and the kind of fan experience we have tried to build," Gupta said.
Aref Hamad Al-Awani, secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, described the upcoming competition as a milestone event aimed at fostering grassroots interest across the community.
"The tournament has grown significantly in just a few years, while its impact reaches beyond the court through its engagement with young players, schools and the wider community," Al-Awani said.
Homaid Al-Shimmari, deputy group CEO of Mubadala Investment Co., highlighted the wider impact of the gathering, stating: "Beyond bringing the world’s best players to Abu Dhabi, the tournament serves as a platform to inspire young people, encourage greater participation in sport, and bring families and communities together."
For the 2027 event, organizers will launch a Village Pass, providing fans and families entry to the 15,000-square-metre Mubadala Village. The event previously became the first WTA-only tournament to host a wheelchair tennis competition as part of efforts to expand participation and inclusion.
