‘Your Voice, Your Story’: Athletes Lead Countdown to World Baseball Softball Day on May 10

The Power of the Diamond: Athletes Take the Lead as World Baseball Softball Day Countdown Hits Two-Week Mark

The global countdown is officially on. With exactly two weeks until World Baseball Softball Day on 10 May, the international community is shifting gears into a new, athlete-centric phase of celebration. This year, the focus is squarely on the individuals who define the sport: the players themselves.

National Federations and athletes from every corner of the globe are being called upon to share their journey and demonstrate why baseball and softball are truly “The Global Game.”

Under the theme “Your Voice. Your Story. Your Game,” the campaign puts athletes, para-athletes, coaches, officials, fans, refugees, and grassroots communities at the center of the celebration. From local diamonds to the road to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, players are being recognized not only as competitors but as leaders, role models, and storytellers of the sport. WBSC is inviting the global baseball and softball family to reflect and share their journeys by answering key questions, including: What does World Baseball Softball Day mean to you personally? What moment made you feel part of a global community? What advice would you give young athletes dreaming of reaching your level? What does the Olympic dream mean to you? What is your personal dream for this year — on or off the field? “These questions are more than prompts — they are an invitation to connect,” WBSC said. “Across cultures, disciplines and experiences, they highlight the shared passion that unites our global family.” Athletes from around the world are already sharing stories of life-changing moments, dreams that drive them, and the communities that support them. The campaign is being amplified on social media, with participants encouraged to tag @WBSC and use the official hashtags.  WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said: “It’s a day to celebrate our sport and all that we have achieved as one united team. With two weeks to go, this is more than a countdown — it’s a global movement. ”National Federations and athletes worldwide are encouraged to join in the lead-up to May 10.
