The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated an investigation into reports that spin all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz may have used recreational drugs.

A PCB spokesperson confirmed that once the inquiry is complete, the findings — including details of Nawaz’s medical history — will be shared with the International Cricket Council. Until the process concludes, Nawaz remains eligible to play for Multan Sultans in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the alleged positive test dates back to the T20 World Cup held earlier this year. The report further claims that Nawaz’s planned stint with Surrey for the upcoming T20 Blast (scheduled from May 26 to July 18) has been cancelled due to the situation.

Both Surrey and the ICC have declined to comment publicly on the matter so far.
