PSL 6: Qalandars beat Zalmai in their first match by 4 wickets


KARACHI February 21 (By Muzaffar Ali Jang) In the second match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6, Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 4 wickets.

In the match played at the National Stadium in Karachi, the captain of Lahore Qalandars won the toss and invited Peshawar to bat first. Peshawar scored 140 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which Qalandars completed the target of 141 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 18.3 overs.

Peshawar innings

Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal started the innings for Peshawar but on the first ball of the match, Imam-ul-Haq got out without scoring a run while Kamran Akmal also managed to score only 5 runs.

Haider Ali also could not open his account while Shoaib Malik and Sherfane Rutherford played 26, 26 innings. Peshawar Zalmi’s Ravi Bipara scored 50 runs while Emad Butt remained unbeaten on 23 off 11 balls with the help of two sixes and a four.

For Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Shah Afridi got three wickets, Salman Mirza got two wickets and David Wesse got one wicket.

Lahore innings

Qalandars started the innings cautiously in pursuit of the target. The first player to be dismissed was captain Sohail Akhtar who was dismissed for 14 off 29 balls by Mujeeb-ur-Rehman.

Soon Fakhr Zaman and Agha Salman also returned to the pavilion, both scoring 15 and 21 runs respectively.

Ben Dunk was clean bowled by Wahab Riaz for a total score of 89. He scored 22 off 14 balls. Hafeez was present on the wicket playing responsibly.

The last player to be dismissed was Samat Patel who was dismissed for 8 runs on a total score of 109.

On this occasion, Rashid Khan played aggressively and scored 27 runs off 15 balls and too the team to winning stand while Mohammad Hafeez scored 33 runs and remained unbeaten.

For Peshawar, Wahab Riaz and Saqib Mahmood took two wickets each and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Emad Butt took one wicket each. Shaheen Afridi of Qalandars was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent bowling. He took 3 wickets for 14 runs.
