LAHORE: At least eight people were killed when the roof of a house collapsed in Lahore’s Harbanspura area late on Wednesday, according to authorities. Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) retired Capt Muhammad Ali Ijaz confirmed the death toll to Dawn, with a statement issued by his office on Thursday morning saying that he was supervising the rescue operation at the site of the incident, which was ongoing. The statement added that Rescue 1122 teams, assisted by district administration officials, were clearing the debris and efforts were under way to recover people who were still trapped under the rubble.
